Kick Off Meeting
by Elizabeth Simmons, Troop #122
This meeting plan was designed as a basis for kids to meet the adults involved in running the group as well as learn the behavior that will be expected of them at meetings.
What does it mean to be a Frontier Girl (or Quest Club member)?
Supplies:
- Objects/pictures of objects mentioned
- Bag for each member to keep their objects
- 9 adults or stations to find and explore
- Adult/station prepared with objects, creed/moral code piece, and explanation
- Plan, map, or clues to get them to each adult/station
Basic idea:
Divide members into small groups and have them travel from adult/station to adult/station. At each station, they must:
- Correctly meet and greet the adult, introducing themselves
- Ask politely what the adult can teach them about being a Frontier Girl or Quest Member
- Complete a challenge if requested by the adult (sing a song, introduce each other, fit in 1 tile on the floor, etc. – silly, teambuilding fun)
- Listen politely to the explanation of the object and the part of the creed/moral code
- Respond politely when they receive their object/picture and place it in their bag
- Repeat for all 9 stations
