Spring Time Crafts

Lets get crafty! Making paper flowers to decorate for spring is one of my favorite seasonal activities. Regardless of what supplies you have on hand, WhatMomsLove.com has a huge selection of options that should have something for everyone. From Q-tip daisies to flowers yarn wrapped tulips you can create an entire flower garden!

 

Get Outside!

Get outside and enjoy the spring weather. MomsAlwaysFindOut.com has a great list of outdoor activities for springtime entertainment.  Just a few ideas include:

Spring Weather

Spring has arrived and with it beautiful weather for most of the country. Start learning about this marvelous season by finding out what spring weather is like in each state. Check out this cool spring weather map that shows the average weather in each state from Florida in the high 60’s to Maine in the low 20’s.  Brrrr!!

What causes the seasons and their weather changes? As the Earth spins on its tilted axis, it moves around the Sun and different parts of the earth receive a different amount of light depending which part is closest to the Sun. More sunlight means longer days and warmer temperatures while less sunlight means shorter days and colder weather. What is an Equinox? Spring Colors

What colors are usually associated with the spring season and why? The fashion industry posts trending colors for each season every year. What spring colors are fashionable this year? Spring Constellations

What are the constellations you can see in spring?  Look up at the starry sky and try to locate one of the spring constellations. ConstellationGuide.com has some great maps and information on spring constellations.  There are also apps for your phone like Starchart that allow you to look at any star day or night!  Try making constellations out of marshmallows and make other fun constellation crafts at MyKidsAdventures.com.

Spring Cooking!

Make a spring dish! It can be a family favorite or something new. Get creative! Spring meals, drinks, desserts, anything spring!  Visit your local farmer’s market for fresh spring ingredients. Visit All Recipes, Feasting At Home, or  Delish for some spring recipe inspiration.

What fruits and vegetables are in season in spring? Where can you get them if they aren’t in season where you live? Try planting a fruit or vegetable of your own or make a delicious dish out of seasonal items from your region. Visit an interactive map  topick your region and find out what foods are in season in your area or check out the season by season chart from the USDA.  Learn how out of season fruits and vegetables are imported from other areas of the world.
