Stepping into Leadership: A Special Investiture Ceremony

Investiture Ceremony With Leadership Induction

by Kerry Cordy

Leader: “Welcome. Today, we gather to celebrate a special tradition—the Investiture Ceremony. An Investiture is a time-honored tradition marking the formal introduction of new members into the troop and their commitment to living by the values and principles of the group. It’s not only a welcoming ceremony for new members, but also a rededication of current members to remind them of the commitments they have made to the troop. First, let’s begin with the Frontier Girls’ promise, which forms the foundation of our values and actions. It’s something we live by as a troop, and it’s what we’ll all strive to uphold, both as girls and as leaders.”

All Frontier Girls: “I promise to love God, be loyal to my country and love my neighbor as myself.”

Leader: Will the following girls please come forward: (Call the names of all returning members).

To our returning members, today is not just about continuing your journey—it’s about rededicating yourselves to the values, promises, and goals of Frontier Girls. You have already shown your commitment, but today, we ask you to renew that commitment and continue to lead by example. Your experience, passion, and dedication are vital to the success of our troop. Please repeat after me:

As a Frontier Girl, (repeat) I promise to do my best (repeat) To live according to the Frontier Girls promise and creed (repeat) both at our meetings and in my everyday life. (repeat)

Have the girls stay up front, but move to one side.

Will the following girls please come forward: (Call the names of all new girls). Please repeat after me:

As a Frontier Girl, (repeat) I promise to do my best (repeat) To live according to the Frontier Girls promise and creed (repeat) both at our meetings and in my everyday life. (repeat)

We would like to officially welcome you to Troop #XXX

Have a current member or leader pin a Frontier Girl Membership pin on the tab of each new girl and then give them a round of applause and tell all girls to be seated.

Leader: “At this time we would like to recognize the new leaders within our troop. Leadership is an honor, a responsibility, and a privilege. Today, we will be inducting those who have stepped forward to serve our troop, whether as patrol leaders or in other leadership positions. Each of these girls has shown commitment, dedication, and a willingness to help others grow.

Leader: “Patrol leaders have a special responsibility, not only to their patrols but to the troop as a whole. They are the voice of their group, the example for others, and the one who helps keep everything running smoothly. As we recognize the patrol leaders today, let us listen closely to the promises they are about to make.”

“Would the following girls please come forward?” (Call the names of all Patrol Leaders)

Please repeat after me:
“As a patrol leader, (repeat) I promise to lead my patrol to the best of my ability, (repeat) To keep order in my group at all times (repeat) To speak for my patrol and not just for myself (repeat) And to do my best to live up to the troop’s trust. (repeat)”

Leader: “Each patrol leader is entrusted with the guidance of their fellow Frontier Girls, and we are confident in their ability to lead by example, care for their patrol, and inspire others to be the best they can be. ”

Have a leader or a previous patrol leader pin a Patrol Leader pin in the center of the tab of each girl and then give them a round of applause and tell them to be seated.

Now, we will recognize all other leadership positions, each of which plays a crucial role in the success of our troop. Whether assisting with meetings, keeping track of our finances, or taking photos, these leaders are committed to their responsibilities and promise to give their best effort.”

This year our leadership positions will include: (Call each girls name to come forward after you say their position)

  • Leader in Training
  • Scribe
  • Treasurer
  • Photographer
  • Reporter
  • Snack Coordinator
  • Care Coordinator

Please repeat after me: “As a leader, (repeat) I promise to do my job to the best of my ability (repeat) To take my responsibilities seriously (repeat) And to do my best to live up to the troop’s trust. (repeat)

Leader:
Each of you has promised to do your best, and we know you will lead with honesty, passion, and care. As leaders, you help make this troop a place where everyone feels supported, encouraged, and able to grow.

Have a leader or a previous leadership holder pin the appropriate leadership pin in the center of the tab of each girl and then give them a round of applause and tell them to be seated.

Leader:To our new leaders, thank you for stepping up to guide and inspire. To our returning members, thank you for rededicating yourselves to the troop and for your continued support. To our new members, we welcome you and hope you find friendship, growth, and inspiration in our troop. Each of you is a valuable piece of our puzzle, and when we work together, we create something truly special.”

“Let’s continue to support one another, embrace new challenges, and make our troop a place where everyone can thrive. Congratulations to all our leaders and members, new and old, and thank you for your dedication. Let’s celebrate the wonderful journey ahead!”
